About Northridge, CA
The Los Angeles neighborhood of Northridge is located in the San Fernando Valley. The Northridge Fashion Center and California State University, Northridge are located in the neighborhood.
The hamlet, which had been established in 1908 and given the name Zelzah by the inhabitants, was renamed North Los Angeles in 1929. However, the change occasionally led people to confuse North Hollywood with Los Angeles. Civic leader Carl S. Dentzel changed the community’s name to Northridge Village in 1938, which later developed into Northridge as it is known today.
The Tongva natives and later Spanish explorers are responsible for the region’s history. It was sold to Eulogio de Celis by Mexican governor Pio Pico, whose successors divided it for sales.
